WILCOX MOFFLIN MULTI-RESIDENTAL APARTMENT
The Wilcox Mofflin apartment is a vibrant , exciting youthful space that acknowledges its building's origins.
The client wants to utilise the space as much as possible. The client Nina and Patrick Reid ,a couple in their 30s , lead a very active and social life. The newly designed Wilcox Mofflin apartment reflects their personality by being vibrant and bold in the colours , furniture and material selection. The original brick timber and concrete was untouched , giving a sense of the raw , industrial and urban.
The long , marble top island bench functions as casual eating area. The whole first floor of the apartment has exposed beams for the ceilings retained from the original interior creating an exciting juxtaposition of old and new.
The custom design stairs are the main feature of the apartment and connects to lower and upper floors. There is a glass balustrade and handrail for support with wooden treads that tie in with industrial element of the building. Upstairs holds the more private spaces such as the two bedrooms both with ensuites and walk in robes. The use of more subtle materials such as muted fabrics , white walls and less contrasting furniture create a haven away from the dynamic downstairs area.
